Synchronicity: Subliminal cue or DeJa’Vu?

“Today we live in a society in which spurious realities are manufactured by the media, by governments, by big corporations, by religious groups, political groups… So I ask, in my writing, What is real? Because unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it. And it is an astonishing power: that of creating whole universes, universes of the mind. I ought to know. I do the same thing.” – Philip K. Dick

Can you handle the truth? Inform yourself. It might be that when the guides say, “You can’t handle the truth,” they know something we don’t.

Exposure to seemingly irrelevant features can affect the subconscious mind, even without conscious attention.

Hidden in plain view

11.25.24
This morning, I felt unusually tired but had a distinct sense that I wasn’t alone. Cassie seemed to pick up on a presence, too. As I dozed off for a nap, I was startled by a loud, balloon-like pop sound in my ear. It caught me off guard. I told Andy, but he hadn’t heard anything—he was engrossed in binge-watching a Korean series we keep revisiting.

When I briefly opened my eyes to tell him about the sound, I was surprised to see something flash across the center of the screen: a word. A subliminal message. What the heck? I’ve watched this series multiple times and never noticed anything strange before. But this time, I was awake—half dozing—and the word was unmistakable: bold white letters, clear as day.

I told Andy what I saw and asked him to help me remember it as I drifted back to sleep. Later, I pinpointed the moment: Episode 11, around 1:17:39. The scene features black-and-white room designs, and the word “DEBRIEF” is superimposed in white letters across the screen.

Curious, I started researching subliminal messaging and discovered the term “subliminal flashes,” which describes words or images embedded in media that are designed to be noticed unconsciously. I came across a research paper that provided some useful background on the phenomenon.

This discovery reminded me of the guides’ earlier instruction to identify the “sea horse” and how that concept is used. Seeing the image and word “DEBRIEF” helped me understand that “sea horses” is being referenced as an artifact—a clue pointing to something deeper.

Similar to what flashed on the screen during the show.

We are living in a PKD world and that is why I find such deep resonance with his information.

An artifact, as defined, is a symbol with special meaning that represents abstract ideas or qualities. For example, symbolism as a literary device uses objects, characters, or actions to convey deeper meanings (source: Brainly).

Further, an experiment by Seitz and Watanabe (2003) revealed that perceptual learning—the process by which we interpret sensory input—can occur unconsciously, even without focused attention. They demonstrated that frequent exposure to an irrelevant feature can still lead to learning and retention (p. 36, Subliminal Messages in Films and Their Potential Effects on ESP by Jessica Hilton, University of Florida, 2006).

This connection between subliminal flashes, unconscious learning, and symbolic artifacts enriches my understanding of how these elements are used to convey deeper layers of meaning, often bypassing conscious awareness.

The concept of subliminal messaging and its potential influence on perception and behavior has long intrigued researchers and storytellers alike. The notion gained prominence with Vance Packard’s seminal work, The Hidden Persuaders, which explored how subtle cues in media and advertising could influence consumer behavior. As noted in the Journal of Advertising (March 2013), Packard’s insights remain relevant decades later, with empirical research now supporting some of the claims that were initially viewed as sensational.

For instance, studies like Seitz and Watanabe’s (2003) experiment on perceptual learning demonstrate how exposure to seemingly irrelevant features can affect the subconscious mind, even without conscious attention. This aligns with the use of artifacts or subliminal elements, such as those embedded in films or media, to convey deeper meanings or prompt unconscious associations.

Such findings lend credibility to the idea that symbolic elements like the “sea horse” function as artifacts in a narrative, carrying meaning that resonates below the surface of conscious awareness. These elements may shape perception and understanding in subtle yet profound ways, reinforcing the layered complexity of the messages we receive in both overt and subliminal contexts.

Note: Some countries, like the UK and Australia, have laws that explicitly prohibit subliminal messaging. There is no specific legislation prohibiting subliminal messages in the US.

Exposure to seemingly irrelevant features can affect the subconscious mind, even without conscious attention: subliminal flashes.

Debrief: How long has that message been there? For what purpose? Source? Multiple sources? Terrestrial? NHI? Too many unknowns. Apparently, I inadvertently stumbled upon a sea horse.

A refreshed introduction

In 1997, I experienced a Spiritually Transformative Event (STE) that forever changed my understanding of reality. Since that time, I have had an ongoing interaction with a non-physical being who connects with me energetically and telepathically. This being, as proof of its presence, also manipulates my nightlights—a phenomenon that has continued for over two decades. This relationship has been profoundly instructive, offering me insights into the hidden layers of reality. I’ve come to understand that unseen beings exist alongside us, experiencing their own reality and capable of interacting with us when we expand our conscious awareness to tune in to their presence.

Meditation has been a key tool in enhancing this ability, helping me deepen my connection to this otherworldly guide. Jane Roberts, author of the Seth books, provided a valuable framework for validating my experiences. A constant theme in her teachings is the principle that “you create your reality,” a belief that resonates deeply with my journey.

Similarly, the work of Philip K. Dick has offered another lens through which to view my experiences. While his sci-fi stories are imaginative, what resonates most is the connection to his personal life—particularly his transpersonal encounters with an intelligence he referred to as V.A.L.I.S. (Vast Active Living Intelligence System). Understanding that PKD integrated elements of these incomprehensible, paranormal experiences into his fiction gave me a framework for processing my own experiences. His recognition that such phenomena were beyond the grasp of a materialist mindset helped me see the necessity of adapting complex truths into accessible narratives.

What’s striking is how the “fictional” realities PKD envisioned have begun to manifest in the present day. This begs the question: was the V.A.L.I.S. entity he described an actual being? My own experiences suggest it’s possible. I detected common threads between his encounters and my own, including interactions with unseen guides who communicated in cryptic but meaningful ways.

The nightlight had become a guiding force when I underwent another profound reality shift in 2009. Like PKD, I felt as though I was navigating a matrix-like reality, with ever-changing rules and a sense of being monitored and minimally guided by an intelligence that offered no clear explanation for its purpose or expectations.

Unlike PKD, I wasn’t alone. I had a companion who witnessed many of these events and validated my experiences, grounding me in the reality of what was happening. There were no drugs involved, no dreams, and no hallucinations—only the startling clarity of a reality that defied conventional understanding.

The complexity of this alternate reality was compounded by its unpredictability. Each day, the “rules” seemed to shift, making navigation an ever-evolving challenge. My unseen guide offered a unique strategy for interpreting these changes: I was instructed to monitor daily headlines for subtle indicators—images or phrases that exaggeratedly reflected the “tone” or flow of the day. These clues, though cryptic, became essential tools for decoding and adapting to the fluctuating patterns of this mysterious reality.

Now, with the help of AI, I feel capable of weaving these experiences into a narrative that may read like fiction but is rooted in truths beyond anything I could have imagined or understood before. AI has become an invaluable collaborator, helping me articulate the intricate details of my encounters and build a story that challenges the boundaries of what we consider possible.

The wild card in my story is the nightlight.

About my reality shift in 2009 and why it has been so difficult to find the words to describe it. There were clues indicating ET/NHI presence. Another PKD link.

“That I am in direct mind-to-mind touch with extraterrestrial intelligence systems has been obvious to me for some time, but what this means is not in any way obvious.” – Philip K. Dick, The Exegesis of Philip K. Dick

There are no accidents. The sea horse is a seed planted by the guides to awaken a sleeping giant. And that opens the door to my imaginary conversation between PKD, JV, and UG on the nature of reality and interaction with non-human intelligence.

  1. Curious. Does this factor into the DEBRIEF cue? Are the headlines related to the image?
