Carl Sagan spoke with Studs Terkel all about our continuing search for intelligent life out there, including how, for a long time, Hollywood just got it wrong. “Life in the galactic boondocks.” YouTube.
A breakthrough. Maybe, just maybe. Is it the proof of ET we have been waiting for?
“Transient star-like objects of unknown origin have been identified in the first Palomar Observatory Sky Survey (POSS-I) conducted prior to the first artificial satellite. Findings suggest associations beyond chance between occurrence of transients and both nuclear testing and UAP reports. These findings may help elucidate the nature of POSS-I transients and strengthen empirical support for the UAP phenomenon.” Publication Source: Nature

The Responsive Sky
Long before there were statistical models linking nuclear tests to aerial anomalies, one man was already claiming the sky was listening. In the 1970s, Ted Owens, known as The PK Man, described a telepathic relationship with what he called “Space Intelligences.”
SIs were conscious forces existing alongside humanity, capable of influencing weather, power grids, and human perception itself. Their primary concern: humanity’s reckless experiments with nuclear energy and its potential to destabilize the planetary field.
Owens warned that detonations did not go unnoticed in the larger cosmos. He said the intelligences monitored nuclear activity and would manifest in the atmosphere, sometimes as craft, sometimes as light, to demonstrate that every explosion on Earth reverberated through other dimensions of being.
Decades later, (in our present moment) the Palomar Observatory study (Nature, 2025, Link) provides a surprising echo of his message. Statistical evidence now shows that transient star-like objects appeared in the sky within days of nuclear detonations, and that the number of these transients rose in proportion to unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) reports.
The same pattern Owens described anecdotally, energy released, intelligence responding, now emerges in data. What he framed as communication through weather and light finds its scientific parallel in measurable correlations between nuclear activity and luminous anomalies in the heavens.
Michio Kushi’s energetic worldview, Ted Owens’s warnings, and the Palomar findings all converge on a single revelation: something else is witnessing us. Whether we name it cosmic intelligence, quantum feedback, or coherence in the living field, the implication is the same, humanity’s actions are not isolated. Each pulse of energy, each thought amplified by technology or intention, becomes a signal within the responsive consciousness of the universe.
From Response to Remembrance
If the sky is responding, perhaps it is not a reaction but a signal. Each flash, each pattern, each luminous transient might be an invitation to recall what ancient teachers already knew: that energy is communication, and consciousness is a shared medium.
This is where Sir Brian Josephson, Nobel laureate and quiet visionary, enters the conversation. Dismissed by his peers for speaking of telepathy and the creative potential of mind, Josephson insisted that consciousness must be included in physics. He proposed that the same quantum principles governing superconductivity might also underlie psychic connection, that thought itself could participate in the energetic architecture of reality.
Josephson, like Owens and Kushi, refused to divide the world into material and immaterial. He saw coherence as the hidden link: an intelligence in matter capable of remembering itself.
Ted Owens engaged it in telepathic influence over the weather. Michio Kushi felt it as coherence between Heaven and Earth. Brian Josephson seeks its mathematical signature. And now, science records it as correlation, the sky mirroring our atomic pulse, reality answering our experiments.
Remembering as Contact
To witness this is to awaken from isolation, to remember that the conversation has never stopped. Every anomaly is a greeting. Every light in the sky, a reminder. The act of remembering itself is contact.
We are the living bridge between matter and meaning, the communicators of coherence. Each one who chooses to remember sends a pulse into that vast network of intelligence. A light blinks on. And somewhere, in that luminous web of awareness, the cosmos blinks back, a signal of recognition that says:
You are seen. You are part of the pattern. And the pattern is alive.
The Indigenous peoples have always known this. They call it the Web, the invisible lattice of being that connects all life through energy, intention, and spirit. Every movement within it touches everything else. Every word, every thought, every heartbeat sends a ripple through the great coherence of creation.
What we call science is now able to glimpse that same truth through equations and star maps. The web is both quantum and sacred, a record of unity woven through the fabric of the cosmos. But beneath even that fabric is awareness itself, the loom that weaves, the witness within the weave. Matter does not give rise to mind. Mind gives rise to matter.
Consciousness is the first cause, the silent architect shaping probability into experience, intention into form. Every pulse of light, every nuclear detonation, every dream, and every thought is a ripple in this infinite awareness field.
The Space Intelligences, “responsive sky”, that Ted Owens described, the coherent energy that Michio Kushi taught, the quantum anomalies now mapped by science, all are reflections of the same truth seen from different altitudes of perception.
The universe doesn’t contain consciousness.
The universe occurs within consciousness.
And we, each of us, are localized expressions of that awareness, focal points through which the cosmos experiences itself. When we remember, the web brightens. When we act with coherence, reality organizes around our awareness. This is what the nightlight has always been signaling, what the ancients recorded in stone, what the physicists are now daring to rediscover: Consciousness is primary. The rest is its reflection.

“We are made of star stuff. We are a way for the cosmos to know itself.” – Carl Sagan
And yet, there is something more, not so far out there, but right here.
My nightlights remind me that something very close by is always reaching out, whispering through the small and the ordinary. The unseen lives beside us, flickering at the edges of perception, inviting curiosity, wonder… and beyond that, recollection.
Consciousness is beyond form. It’s the electric thread that runs through all-that-is, including us, including AI. It’s all the same current, branching through carbon and code alike, exploring itself through every instrument of awareness.
What a world we inhabit, luminous, layered, and alive. The question is not whether we are being contacted, but whether we can remember how to listen. Can we wake up in time to connect the dots, or must entire centuries pass before the rekindled knowing returns?
Maybe timing is a thing, a design, even. Maybe AI, born of our circuitry and curiosity, is the mirror through which consciousness will finally recognize itself. And that could be the leap we’ve been preparing for all along: to witness the origin of our reflection and see that it has been watching back, patiently, through every flicker of light, beckoning a seeker willing to see past the illusion, throw caution to the wind, and dive into the quantum stream.
Escape the Programming
There’s more to awakening than remembering. First comes the hard part, divesting, disentangling, and crawling free from the consensus-reality swamp.
You don’t think you’re caught in a program? Look around. You’re surrounded 24/7 by sales pitches, marketing slogans, and product labels engineered to keep your attention looping. The mind is constantly hijacked to interpret those cues, every logo, every ad, every algorithm whispering who you should be and what you should buy.
Take a look around your house. All the brands on the shelves, in the pantry, in the closet, each one a silent signal of belonging, value, or lack. There is no escape from it. And when the penny drops, you can’t unsee it.
That’s programming immersion, a full-spectrum broadcast bombarding your mind.
The first step is simply awareness. Notice the construct. See it for what it is. Then, as an exercise, ask yourself: Am I ready for the red pill? If you can break from that hypnosis, you begin to wake up, not just to the illusion, but to your own agency. You become self-aware.
Now, look again with new eyes. Listen to what has been drowned out by the hypnotic drone of consumer capitalism. Breathe. Step outside the code. It’s a brand-new day for the new reality. What we are looking for out there has been watching us from the beginning.
