A recent Q&A posted on twitter. “The Rendlesham Forest case, 1980. Major Lori Rehfeldt (“I was Airman First Class in February 1980. Enlisted.”) saw a UFO come in on the runway – it wasn’t an airplane.” Scroll down on this link to video interview.
What happened at Rendlesham? There are two reported UFO encounters in this case. Feb. 1980 and Dec. 1980.
According to Wiki: The events occurred just outside RAF Woodbridge, in use at the time by the United States Air Force (USAF). USAF personnel, including deputy base commander Lieutenant Colonel *Charles I. Halt, claimed to see things they described as a UFO sighting.”
*In June 2010 Halt issued a notarized affidavit[3] in which he summarized the alleged events of the Rendlesham Forest UFO incident and concluded: “I believe the objects that I saw at close quarter were extraterrestrial in origin and that the security services of both the United States and the United Kingdom have attempted – both then and now – to subvert the significance of what occurred at Rendlesham Forest and RAF Bentwaters by the use of well-practiced methods of disinformation.”*

My interview with Lori is available in Wendy’s Coffeehouse podcast archives.
In speaking with Lori, it is clear the 1980 UFO sighting added increased friction to an already tense situation. She explains that aspect further in the interview.
Circumstances dictated the incident had to be reported. Already feeling somewhat of an outcast, the aftermath of being labeled a UFO nut witness added to the frustration and Lori ultimately was left to feel scapegoated and ostracized simply for telling the truth about an event beyond human understanding.

Beyond the UFO activity. Even more interesting is the historical background of high strangeness in that area.
- Visitors to the forest continue to experience odd phenomena there, such as hot or warm stones falling down near them. Link.
- There are also reported encounters with a creature referred to as Shug Monkey. Link.
Finding out there was a second encounter made all the difference. Lori had no idea about that until the book, Left at East Gate, by Larry Warren and Peter Robbins was published. She says reading that that book in 1997 opened a floodgate of memories and provided validation.
I first discovered Lori in this interview conducted by Steven Greer’s Disclosure Project and blogged it on Wendy’s Coffeehouse, 2017. The bonus? Lori actually took the time to post a response.
She and a colleague were on duty late at night, when they saw in the distance an object they thought was a plane landing on the runway – coming in from the direction of the North Sea.
They also saw it silently explode, split into three parts, and speed across the runway; then it went straight up and disappeared.
Having had time to reconcile her experience and consider some of the other high strangeness and paranormal accounts in that area, Lori now offers additional insight.
Her personal encounters (PSI) include Greys, Mantid Beings, Ghosts and others and she admits there were some locations on the base that made her feel extremely uncomfortable.
At one point, she heard a voice instruct her not to turn around because it didn’t want to scare her. She also had a verbal prompt to avoid going forward in a certain area. She acknowledged and turned away.
Lori shared a few drawings and images that were mentioned in our interview – Standing at East Gate, the triangle UFO drawing and the crazed man by the pond.

Four sightings that remain Unexplained. Rendlesham is among them. BBC Science Focus.
In 2020 the BBC revisited the Rendlesham event.

In 2001 Lori returned to the former base and documented that visit. She includes her photos. 8/9 August – RAF Bentwaters – my two-day pilgrimage.
Lori says there were a lot of coincidences in 1996-1997, including recurring dreams that eventually led to a link to the Zone of Silence, noted for Alien/UFO encounters and compared to the Bermuda Triangle due to weird electronic reactions. Atlas Obscura.
