To fly as fast as thought, you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived. – Richard Bach
It is a result of our hardwiring that we are linked in so many extraordinary ways. It is also a result of our hardwiring that we are unable to attach a precise definition to that connection. Intuition is a vague term because it is used as such a catch all phrase. Try asking one who knows a piece of information that could be considered a hunch, a premonition, or a gut feeling, “How do you know?” Saying it is intuition leaves a lot to interpretation.
Science is still trying to define Intuition. The latest studies in mind science suggest trusting that gut feeling could be trouble in cases where there is already a subconscious bias. So we go with our individual experiences and feel our way into what intuition means first hand. When I “know” – I know. Can I tell you how? No. Would I rather not know? Absolutely not. I use it as a tool. Sometimes I am wrong – it is never 100 percent because of that aforementioned bias… However, the times I refuse to listen to my intuition, I usually end up regretting. I can live with being wrong. I can’t live without a tool that fails only when I misuse it. Operator error. In other words, the more you use it, the better your chance of fine tuning the ability. And that is totally up to you. Forget waiting for the scientific instruction manual. When you get off the fence and develop your tools, you help science write the book.
